BELINDA CENDRON

Hospitality. Interiors. Styling.

Sourceress. Giant Clamshell Addict.

She's raided private collections, pestered op-shop management and cut deals in parking lots in her hunt for the bizarre.  If you've been to any of Sydney's best bars you've likely sat amongst her finds. From antique encaustic tiles lining the walls of Manly Wine, to exotic taxidermy doing the same at Shady Pines (2012 Bar of the Year), to vintage sinks at the Baxter Inn (#7 World's 50 Best Bars 2012), all manner of lighting, furniture and oddities at The Winery (Best New Venue 2010), three floors of fabulousness at the Newtown Hotel (2013 Hotel of the Year) and venues and events at luxurious Hamilton Island (a tropical paradise with more palms per square inch than a Martinique print and home to Qualia, the Best Resort in the World), her work is world class.

She favours Deyrolle, Paris as her taxidermy mecca and aesthetic paradise, pre-loved film set props for fabulous fakes and has been described as baroque, kitsch, modern and nostalgic all at once. She's the kind of girl that knows a guy, who knows a girl that has a contact that can get you one of those. Whatever 'those' may be.

In her spare time, this self-taught pianist (she credits You Tube), dabbles in the arts of chandelier restoration, furniture revival, painting and photography. She collects antique cement encaustic tiles and is particularly fond of giant clamshells.

"With Italian style in my blood, filtered down from four Italian grandparents, and my parents' painting & decorating business being a family affair, I developed, along with a great love of coffee and homemade red wine, a taste for paint fumes before breakfast & a very strong work ethic.

For one brief decade I was led astray into the world of banking and finance before I came to my senses and extricated myself from the marble-clad walls of Sydney's Chifley Tower, jumped on the first plane to Europe and immersed myself into the life creative...filled with freedom and fear in equal doses and the promise of a colourful bohemian existence. Enter Sourceress.

I founded Sourceress with a view to help clients define and capture their own style through interiors, art and fashion and to create objects and spaces that bring these together with authenticity and impact."
